Pompom flowers DIY -- a pop of colour in your house!
Ava decided to make pompoms the other day and before long she (and Pim, who joined the fun) had made a bowl full of them. Pompoms are so easy and fun to make! We were expecting dinner guests that evening, and I had no fresh flowers for the table so I asked them to create pompom flowers. They ended up being so cute!
Making pompom flowers really is so simple that writing a pompom flowers DIY feels a bit silly. If you know how to make pompoms, you're basically set. But if you need a reminder, here it is ;).
Pompom flowers DIY
To make cute, tiny pompoms, you just use a fork, wind some thread around, then secure it by tightly knotting around the thread through the middle tines of the fork. Cut the edges, cut into shape if necessary, and done!
For extra fluff, you can carefully (!) hold the pompom above some steaming water. Obviously don't let your child engage in this part of the process! If you want different coloured pompoms, simple change yarn while winding. Just have fun playing around!
We glued the pompoms to the pointy side of a skewer using hot glue. To give the pompom flowers different heights, we cut off a part of some of the skewers with a hand pruner.
And voila! Done. So pretty! I now have the pompom flowers in the windowsill where they are adding a pop of colour to an otherwise grey day.These pompom flowers would also make great little hostess gifts -- you can use tiny vases, or perhaps empty mustard jars spruced up with some masking tape (like here!).
