About ten years ago I noticed a trash pile of household goods on the sidewalk around the corner from us.

We own a little poststamp size piece of forest in the south of The Netherlands (where I’m from). We like to spend camping-style weekends there, simply being outdoors all day.

A few friends came over for lunch recently, and before long we all made our way upstairs to have a look at our master bathroom.

Five years ago I made Sara her first period box — and with it, I initiated a little tradition. So now that Ava has ‘come of age’, she too got her special present!
